The 2008 Clinton Art Society Annual Summer Exhibition will be held July 28 through August 17. The exhibition will be held at the Clinton Town Hall (downstairs in the Green Room of Andrews Memorial Town Hall) on Route 1 (Boston Post Road) in downtown Clinton. The CAS summer show has become one of the most important of the many held in Connecticut each year. The exhibition is a fine art destination and a "must-see" for the casual art lover and serious collector alike.
Key dates for the Exhibition:
Receiving: Monday, July 21 from 2 pm to 6 pm
Reception: Sunday, July 27 from 5 pm to 7 pm
Pick up of non-selected works: Monday, July 28 during viewing hours (2 pm to 5 pm and 7 pm to 9 pm)
End of show pick-up: Monday, August 18 from 2 pm to 5 pm and 7 to 9 pm
Exhibition Hours and Dates (including weekends): July 28 through August 16 from 2 pm to 5 pm and 7 pm to 9 pm. On August 17 (final day of show) from 2 pm to 5 pm.
Jurors
John Atwater A.W.S., A.S.M.A. is a notable exhibiting New
England Maritime artist, and President of the Connecticut Watercolor
Society. He received his B.F.A. degree from Washington University Art
School in Saint Louis.
Amy Kurtz Lansing is the Curator at the Florence Griswold Museum in Old Lyme. She curated several exhibitions which appeared at Yale University Art Gallery and the New York Historical Society.
Eligible Media: Original works in all media, including graphics and sculpture not previously shown in Clinton. All pictures must be suitably framed and wired. Maximum size with frame 36" x 48" including triptychs. No crafts, photographs, computer art, copied art will be accepted. Nor will paintings or sculpture of excessive weight. All sculpture should have an appropriate stand. Artists are encouraged to lend reproducible images of award winning paintings to CAS for publicity distribution. Limit of two paintings per artist.
Entry Fees: Non-Members: $10.00 each entry. Associate Members: 1st entry - $5.00 second entry $10.00. Elected Artist Members: 1st entry - Free, second entry $5.00 – (Elected artists: please indicate your first choice on entry blank as this work will be guaranteed entry.) Please bring a self-addressed/stamped envelope. Entry fees are not refundable.

Attach cards to respective works as instructed. Extra blanks will be available at the desk on entry day. CAS Announces New Elected Artists
Congratulations to our three new elected artists: Joe Veckerelli,
Barbara Zakala and Sr. Joan Bernard.
Joanne McCarty Solo Exhibition Underway
CAS elected artist Joanne McCarty has a solo exhibit at Emerald Isle
Framing and Gallery in Clinton, CT. Her watercolors, pastels and prints
are on exhibit through July 20. Joanne has painted for many years on the
Connecticut shoreline, in the Caribbean, and Europe. Joanne is a member
of the Clinton Art Society, Essex Art Association, Lyme Art Association,
Madison Art Society and the Guilford Art League. She has exhibited
widely in juried shows and received several awards. Joanne’s favorite
media are watercolor and pastel and she most often paints en plein air.
