Artist of the Month Exhibit at the Liberty Bank in Clinton
Stewart Byron: Artist of the month for Sept. & Oct. 2009
The
Clinton Art Society is pleased to sponsor the assemblage sculpture and wood
burning artwork of Stewart Byron, Madison artist throughout the months of
August and September, 2009 at the Liberty Bank, Clinton, CT. The art show
changes every other month and it is free to the public to view. Stewart
Byron's artwork is primarily created with images that he burns on old,
discarded wood pieces that he has reassembled into sculptured forms. He likes
to use old castoffs from life and to have them show up in a new light. He
creates his pieces so that viewers can appreciate the beauty of the
resurrected pieces of sculpture in which old stages of wood are playing with
images that are frozen in time.
Stewart Byron received his Fine Arts degree from Paier College of Art and he
also attended the University of Connecticut and Southern Connecticut State
University to study art. He is a member of the Madison Art Society, the
Clinton Art Society, the Guilford Art League and the Society of Connecticut
Sculptors. His art work has been exhibited in many juried shows where he has
won awards for his unique sculptures and wood burning artworks. In addition,
Stewart’s art has recently been displayed at the Lockwood Mathews Museum in
Norwalk as well as at the P.T Barnum Museum in Bridgeport.
