Joanne McCarty, painter, is a native New Englander and graduate of Tufts University. She is a former
grade school teacher on Connecticut shoreline. Joanne has studied painting with well known artists including Charles Gruppe, Joanne
Ballinger, Judi Betts, Natalie Pfannshiehl, and Jerry Wiess. She travels extensively searching for stunning landscape painting locations
including Portugal, Greece, New England and the Caribbean.
She exhibits regularly in Connecticut and the Caribbean. Her paintings
are held in private collections nationally and internationally. McCarty is a prize winning artist with elected artist memberships
in the Clinton Art Society, Guilford Artists Guild, Essex Art Association and Madison Art Association. She is an associate member
in the Lyme Art Association.
Joanne's work in pastel, pen and watercolor is often described by her collectors as spontaneous, whimsical,
ethereal and impressionistic.” She paints landscapes en plein air as well as interiors and still life.
