Patty Meglio: Artist of the Month for June & July 2009
The Clinton Art Society artist for the months of June and July, 2009 at the Clinton Liberty Bank is Patty Meglio, Northford artist. Patty Meglio was born and raised in Orange, Connecticut. In pursuit of a lifelong dream, in 2003, Patty began studying painting with local artists, including Marc Antony Massaro, Branford, Terry Oakes-Bourret, Durham and Hagop Keledjian Putney, Vermont. Patty’s sees her art work as being modern impressionist in style, mostly depicting country landscapes, seascapes, and still life.
Patty is inspired by the brilliant rendition of subjects in twentieth century art that are loosely painted but with hidden precision, including works by Sargeant, Sorolla, Schmid, Guzik, and Kreutz. She draws her inspirations, as they did, from early twentieth-century architecture, the art deco and Greek classical styles of city buildings, and from country farms, weather worn beaches, and broad meadows slowly disappearing as progress takes its toll.
Patty is a past participant in juried competitions for the Clinton Art Society, Madison Art Society, Artwalk for the West Hartford Art League, and the Mavis Fenner Memorial for the Rowayton Arts Center, and is a winner of the Merchant’s Prize at the Madison Art Show in 2007. She has exhibited in numerous venues throughout the state of Connecticut and New Hampshire. Her work is held in private collections throughout the country. She is a member of the Connecticut Plein Air Painters Society, Milford Fine Arts Council, Clinton Art Association, and the Madison Art Society.
